Winter Jackets To Wrap Up Warm This Winter

If there's one thing worth investing in for your wardrobe, it's a great winter jacket. After all, with rain, snow and strong winds to endure, you'll have plenty of opportunities to wear it! From gilets to gorgeous faux furs, the choice for ladies is fantastic, and there's no need to compromise on style in favour of practicality - or price.

With such a wide range of choice, however, it can be difficult to decide which style is worth your money. For a coat that will keep you snug for winters to come, opt for a classic style, such as an ever-practical parka. Lightweight, yet long enough to keep out the chill, parkas epitomise casual cool, and choose yours in a military-inspired shade of sandy beige and mossy green for a jacket that will truly go with anything! Jeans, jumpers, even knitted dresses, what you layer your parka over is up to you, and you'll love its utilitarian features such as multiple pockets and draw-cord waists. Many designers have even made their parkas convertible, with removable hoods and padded linings, or added gorgeous faux fur trims for an extra touch of luxury.

Faux fur itself is a fabric that never goes out of style for feminine winter dressing, as not only does it look beautiful, it's also incredibly cosy. Warm air is trapped between the long, loose fibres of the fabric, making it suitable for even the chilliest conditions. Wrap up in a long faux mink for comfort without the cruelty, layer a leopard print gilet over a brightly coloured sweater for a fun touch that's also functional, or fly high in the style stakes with a faux sheepskin aviator jacket. As most faux furs are crafted from polyester, they're much easier to care for than the real thing, not to mention far more affordable and above all, ethical.

Warmth isn't the only quality you should consider with a winter jacket though. With the unpredictability of English weather, it helps to also own one that is waterproof. Forget the umbrella and stay dry with a brightly coloured coat or cape in water-repelling lightweight fabrics that won't weigh you down in wet conditions - definitely a bonus if you're a fan of wintry outdoor walks. Choose one with a generously sized hood, storm flap fastenings and adjustable cuffs to keep the weather out and the warmth in. You'll almost be hoping for a rainy day!
